The crushing, high-octane sounds of the ‘90s are here to stay with the Universal Audio ANTI 1992 High Gain Amp. Touching down for players worldwide seeking a key into those classic, dark, high-gain tones that defined ‘90s thrash and death metal, the ANTI 1992 offers a technologically thorough and high fidelity means for it. Authentic tube tonality is just around the corner, care to take the turn?
UA’s ANTI 1992 High Gain Amp pedal sets out to capture the sounds of the high-gain amp monsters that wrote the blueprint for a spectrum of different metal subgenres. With ANTI, the rich, scooped tones that have come to be instantly recognizable among metalheads are in easy reach to plug in and play today. Universal Audio’s classic digital wizardry manifests in this pedal with both amp and cabinet emulation. Six onboard modeled mic and speaker combinations appear through this pedal to arrive at massive, distorted conclusions for easy recording and performance. This playability is enhanced by UA’s onboard noise gate that keeps the signal clear even at the highest gain settings and a TS-style overdrive that contributes to the high-gain equation with classic mid-boost saturation. Between these two readymade features, the ANTI 1992 makes for a perfect companion for incorporating fully-fledged and authentic distorted tonality at the drop of a hat.
Further UA functionality appears on this pedal with compatibility with the UAFX mobile app. Using this program, loadable presets enter the fray for new angles on the ANTI 1992’s sound. Additionally, the app unlocks deeper functions for closer customization including the tweaking of hidden controls, saving noise gate and boost settings and even adjusting output tube biasing. Stereo input and output connectivity pushes the accessibility of this pedal further for use in the most modern of setups.
Encapsulating massive, amplified tonality in a sleek digital pedal, Universal Audio achieves a great feat for modern metal players everywhere seeking an outstandingly modern means of distortion.
